About the project.

Leonardo House lies in a quiet neighbourhood in São Félix da Marinha, Vila Nova de Gaia, and represents a modern take on single-family living on Rua do Cardal.

Story behind the design.

This house was designed for a small and sloped environment in the north of Vila Nova De Gaia. With this, it utilises the garden access and sunlight. Its simple sloped roofs are essential to separate various parts of the inside of the building and preserve privacy. Numerous windows and outdoor decking are included to render a private but spacious outside area that does not infringe on the green location. It is anticipated that the house is going to be built with contemporary energy-efficient materials and methods that suit the ecological landscape of the house.

Added value.

  1. Access elements that provide universal access and consolidate the sloping terrain
  2. Slanted roofs facilitate natural light penetration, space creation, and division to promote privacy
  3. Double glazing, and aluminium framed glass facades to dissuade solar radiation while promoting indoor outdoor connection.
  4. Building techniques that allow for modern life, durability, and aestheticism with ceramic tiles in wet zones, white plaster cladding, and reinforced concrete constructions with external thermal insulation built for centuries
